Basic Info
Name:Roger Davies
Website:Fiery Inception
Bio
*The Basics
Character Name: Roger Davies
Played by: Matt Dallas
Age: 22
Birthday: October 2nd, 1978
Wand: chestnut, twelve and a half inches, unicorn hair
House in School: Ravenclaw
Bloodline: Half-blood
Political View:
Naturally, being raised by a Ministry member, Roger believed the Ministry and their lies to an extent. When it was discovered that the Ministry had indeed told anything but the truth and instead done its best to conceal it, along with being generally a perfect example of incompetence, Roger’s faith was greatly disturbed and he ruefully returned to Hogwarts, realizing now how they’d been right all along.
During the war, after being so appalled by the Ministry, Roger shared the views of Hogwarts and the Order and was completely anti-Death Eaters, seeing how his mother was a muggle-born and he ‘merely’ a half-blood as well.

The fact that the Death Eaters dared even to attack at Hogwarts shocked him deeply, as he had deemed it as one of the very rare, safe places in those unsteady times. He was even more shocked when he’d been told that it was Snape who supposedly had committed the murder of Albus Dumbledore. While he never had had too much love for the professor – Potions was far from being his favourite subject not only because of his apparent lack of talent at it – he knew of Dumbledore’s trust for Snape and had a hard time believing that the headmaster wouldn’t have seen through something like that.

When, after the war, Death Eaters were released, Roger thought it was, in his words, “very shady business”. Like many others who’d lost their families and friends, he himself had lost his father. Especially when he remembers the gruesome details of how his father had faced such an untimely end, he can’t understand how anyone can have mercy on or even companionship for obvious and known Death Eaters. Even though he’s usually someone who thinks everybody deserves a second chance, thanks to his personal experience he’s not at all content with it this time.
*Appearance
Height: 5’10’’
Weight: around 170 pounds
Build: Roger’s not too tall but lean, only very slightly muscled, a build which is perfect for a Quidditch chaser because it leaves him agile, albeit not so great for getting noticed.
Eyes: Green-brown
Hair: Roger’s hair is of a dark brown colour and he preferably keeps it somewhat short, rarely he takes the time to actually ‘style’ it, it’s rather tousled instead most of the time. It's known to have grown longer every now and then out of carelessness, though.
Dress style: Roger prefers casual clothes that allow him to move, seeing how he’s still out and about playing Quidditch and being generally rather sporty, he can’t stand clothes that get in his way and doesn’t even half care for looks and reputation.

Basic Physical Description: -

Defining Marks: From his days as Quidditch player at Hogwarts, Roger still caries various minor scars on his body and one noticeable one on his jaw, just left of his chin.

*Personality
Foremost, Roger’s a very open, extroverted person and very confident. Most of the time, Roger is very friendly and treats everyone with respect, though he sometimes can’t hold back a witty remark or two and tends to babble too much every now and then, often drifting off topic very much.

Other than that, Roger has always got a very positive look on everything, at least on the outside, and hates to appear weak in front of others. He’ll rather put up a smile and help everyone else out than showing that he’s having trouble himself and might need some help from others.

He seems to have some trust issues, after his father has been killed because he believed the Ministry, and has sworn to never have blind faith in anyone or anything. Thanks to that, most of his relationships these days don’t ever develop any further than a friendly level, love is mostly out of the picture for him until he find someone he actually feels he can trust.

While he’d been working in Diagon Alley, Roger had taken up the very bad habit of smoking, simply to handle the stress. He’s quit now – or trying hard to, anyway – and instead has started to bite his nails whenever he’s nervous or under pressure.
*Psychology
Introvert/Extrovert More extroverted than introverted, he’s a very open person.
Boggart is? His boggart is his mother dying the same way his father did, painfully murdered because she believed the wrong people.
Patronus--can they produce one? At this point, Roger is not able to produce a Patronus.
*Sexuality
Naturally, Roger considers himself to be very straight, while actually it’s more accurate to say that he’s never given it much thought. Seeing how he had girls wanting to date him all through his Hogwarts years, including famously beautiful Fleur Delacour among various others, he never thought much about boys. After Hogwarts, he was too busy to really keep up a love life of any kind, there was only casual flirting and nothing further.
*Lifestyle
Occupation: After graduating from Hogwarts, the war pretty soon broke lose, and the Ministry’s behaviour at that time strengthened his decisions not to work for them. While he’d have liked to get a career in Quidditch, thanks to the war this became impossible, and instead he worked as a shop assistant for some time to keep afloat and support his mother. After the war, when he was offered the position of Ravenclaw House Head Coach, he didn’t really think twice and immediately took up said job.
Residence: A small flat in muggle London.
Financial Status: Mediocre, he can live well with his money, but can’t afford any luxuries due to financially taking care of his mother.
*Family
Parents: William Davies and Cynthia Davies, née Cortese
Siblings: none

Roger’s father, William Davies, worked in the International Magical Cooperation department and was very strict, albeit proper man. William not only loved his job dearly, but believed greatly in the government, thoroughly trusting and supporting most of their decisions and actions. Not to a level of blind trust, per se, though still pretty close to that – which lead to his untimely dead, as he believed false assurances of safety from the Ministry. At home, William Davies was a good father, faithful husband, who instilled very strong morals in his son and had high hopes in him. Seeing how Roger was a good student and made Quidditch captain in his third year, he didn’t let his father down.

Cynthia Davies, née Cortese, is a muggle-born witch and met her husband during her years at Hogwarts, where she had been sorted into Hufflepuff and made it on the Quidditch team as chaser; Will fell in love with her while watching her play. They got married pretty young, soon after they both had graduated from Hogwarts and Cynthia soon discovered she was pregnant with Roger. She’s always been a very loving mother and incredibly proud when her son, just like her, made it on the Quidditch team as chase and soon became captain. She was not too thrilled with her son spending time with Fleur Delacour, but as it is, mothers aren’t always content with their son’s choices when it comes to girls.

Having all that said, Roger comes from a loving, supportive family and gets along with his mother perfectly, trying his best to comfort her while she’s still grieving her husband’s death. Roger’s very unhappy about the fact that he’d gotten into a fight with his father just before he died, because Roger hadn’t wanted to take up a job at the Ministry like his father.
*History
Roger Davies years at Hogwarts where certainly rather uneventful. While he wasn’t the most studious kid around, he still managed to somewhat keep up with his homework and pass his tests, all the while way more focused on Quidditch; just after being sorted into Ravenclaw he made friends with other Quidditch interested students his age (among them Cho Chang) and some of the younger players on the house’s team, which later helped him a lot to get on the team and to get on good terms with everyone else there.

Besides making Quidditch captain in his third year, Roger also got a lot of attention for taking Fleur Delacour to the Yule ball and, afterwards, snogging her in the gardens – which ensured him a lot of jealousy from other, mainly male, students. Said romance was rather brief and fun while it lasted; Roger didn’t have too much trouble moving on after Fleur had left again, seeing how by his last year he was dating a Hufflepuff girl by the name of Genna White already. Again, this relationship didn’t last long, neither of them tried all too hard to keep in touch after Roger graduated from Hogwarts.

After his graduation, Roger wanted to try out for the Tutshill Tornados and was more than upset when he didn’t manage to attend the try-outs due to his father pressuring him to take up a job at the Ministry. He didn’t quite understand why his father had kept him from attending the try-outs, until his father made very vague suggestions about his brother Robert, which led Roger to suspect that his dear polite and charming uncle had become a Death Eater and his father only wished for his safety, which he thought Roger would only acquire by working for the Ministry. However, his son refused to work for the Ministry and was dead-set on making the team at the next try-outs. He actually managed that task, but just after having gotten the affirmation that Roger would get on the team, the war had broken lose and Quidditch had been put to a halt. Roger was, needless to say, more than disappointed.

After that, he actually considered working for the Ministry like his father had wished so he’d be safe, however, ironically, while Roger was out with his mother on a vacation to the countryside to visit his grandparents, there was an attack and his father got killed while hiding in a place the Ministry had deemed safe. All thoughts about entering the Ministry were immediately dropped after that, and Roger instead took up a job in one of the many shops in Diagon Alley to keep afloat and support his now grieving mother.

During the war, he mostly managed to keep this job and a flat in muggle London, without officially siding with neither the Order nor the Death Eaters, which is what mainly kept him alive trough out the war, although unofficially, he rooted for the Order, hoping desperately that they would win so his mother, he himself and everyone else could live in peace again.

As luck had it, exactly that happened to everyone’s relief. It was then that he was offered the position of Ravenclaw House Head Coach, which he gladly took up.
